J.B.Thorne of Leicester has introduced its new, extended range of Dustand dust extraction units, specifically designed for use with small grinding, linishing and finishing machines. The units are designed to act as a stand for other machinery, and may also be fitted under an existing work-bench.
The company says that with the advent of the COSHH regulations, many finishing equipment suppliers have added dust extraction equipment to their ranges as a bolt-on fitting rather than being designed in from the outset.
Many of these systems fail to meet the air-flow standards required by the Health and Safety inspectorate, and those specified in the American Conference manual as recognised standards within the dust extraction industry.
A combination of poor ducting design, filter size and fan inlet conditions can reduce system performance by 60 per cent, enough to fail COSHH local exhaust ventilation tests, says Thorne.
Recent tests carried out for a major UK engineering company on the Dustand W30 with correctly proportioned ducting and fan overcame the losses to meet air-flow requirements easily.
The Dustand concept has been developed to overcome the problems associated with small extractors. It can be used as a stand with no need to dismantle equipment when carrying out maintenance work. With the correct localised hooding Dustand units provide an efficient and inexpensive solution to a wide range of dust extraction problems.
The Dustand range of wet and extractors is fully described in a new brochure now available from J.B.Thorne.
